Software update headed to the Nokia Lumia 900 4G?

If you happen to have a Nokia Lumia 900 for your mobile weapon of choice and are already feeling left out of the action due to the announcement of the successor of your handset, Nokia has this to say regarding the matter: you still have a lot to look forward to and are not being left behind. This announcement was made via the Conversations website of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer to reassure users of the handset they will still continue to get some update love from Nokia. In addition to that, the handset is also slated to get an updated user interface along with new apps and features.

In fact, the new Nokia City Lens application which gives the Nokia Lumia 900 augmented reality has already moved out of Beta and is now official and available to be taken advantage of via the Windows Phone MarketPlace. Not only that, users of the handset also now have the capability to check on their phone usage using the Nokia Counters application. As for third party applications, the Viber app which gives the handset VoIP capabilities is now available.

As for features to come, updates to the camera of the Nokia Lumia 900 like the Smart Group Shot and Cinemagraph are already in the pipeline. There are also new features slated to make their way to the handset such as a ringtone maker application and a Contact sharing app that supports sharing via Bluetooth. Also, the handset will also get updated in the future that is expected to give its Start screen a new look and feel a la Windows Phone 8. Nokia also confirmed that the rollout of these updates will be phased and more details will be released as soon as they become available.

So who said that the Nokia Lumia 900 4G not going to get some of the action with the arrival of the new Windows Phone 8 devices?

As for the Nokia Lumia 900 4G, the handset is still one of the best Windows Phone devices to get released to the market. In fact, a lot of Windows Phone fanboys attest to the fact that it brings the best Windows Phone experience prior to the arrival of WP8 smartphones.

This is not surprising given the impressive components and capabilities that the handset brings to the table. The Nokia Lumia 900 4G is powered from the inside by a QualComm APQ8055 SnapDragon chipset which brings into play a 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor and 512 MB of RAM. The storage space onboard the device comes up to 16GB while its display is a 4.0-inch ClearBlack-powered AMOLED panel with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The camera department of the handset which got a lot of love from the last update includes a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP snapper, both of which are capable of recording 720p and VGA quality clips, respectively.
