According to recent reports from various agencies, it appears that the Galaxy SIII and its manufacturer, Korean giant Samsung are doing very well this quarter. Within a few weeks of the release of its largest competitor’s flagship device, the iPhone 5, Samsung reported a record profit on its smartphone sales and the Galaxy SIII has had four amazing weeks after the iPhone release. Samsung’s profits were largely due to the sales of the SIII but the skyrocketing sales of the Galaxy Note II also helped!

The Samsung Galaxy S III is on sale at select online retailers now starting at 99.99.

The company said that its profit between July and September doubled to $5.97 billion from around $3 billion last year. Revenue in the same period rose by 26% to $47 billion. Despite the impressive figures, the company’s stock fell by 2% in Seoul after the announcement. This is probably because investors are beginning to worry that the increased proliferation of smartphones in developed markets will lead to greater competition and reduced profit margins in the future. Samsung said that its target for the next year is to focus on its tablet PC devices and the company said that the tablet market is in for some revolutionary changes next year.

On Friday, after the announcement of Microsoft’s Windows 8, Samsung, among various manufacturers launched tablets and laptops running the new platform. Microsoft has made significant changes to its popular OS and this is being seen by hardware manufacturers, particularly those in the tablet market as a potential weapon against Apple’s iPad.

Third quarter numbers in terms of units shipped were also strong for Samsung which sold nearly twice as many devices as Apple did. The figures were impressive enough for Samsung itself and it appears that consumers who were waiting for the iPhone 5 were not too impressed by the improvements in it over the predecessor, the iPhone 4S. Consumers seem to be looking to the Galaxy SIII which has superior performance and a wider array of features. This is definitely good news for T-Mobile as it carries the Galaxy SIII but not the iPhone!

Apple’s results were revealed last week too and the company continued to impress with a $8.2 billion profit, primarily from the tablet market. The company owes its success to the iPad, which accounts for nearly 70% of the tablet market. Apple is also projecting a revenue of $52 billion for the quarter ending in December.

You can buy the Samsung Galaxy S III at a reduced price now starting at 99.99.
