Last year, the hottest smartphone in the market was the Samsung Galaxy S II. The handset was very popular during its heydays and a lot of our smartphone-crazed brethren consider it as the best Android-powered handset available in the market back then. Such is the popularity of the handset that most US carriers released their own version of the handset with the exception of Verizon. The carrier eschewed the Samsung Galaxy S II in favor of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and its seeming exclusivity over the Google flagship device.

Critics of Verizon claimed that snubbing the Samsung Galaxy S II was a huge error in judgment in the part of the wireless provider. With the release of the Samsung Galaxy S III, Verizon was determined not to commit the same error and had the current Samsung flagship device added on to its lineup of Android-powered devices. With this, Verizon clearly made a wise decision because there is no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S III is currently the hottest handset in the smartphone market today.

Such is the popularity of the handset that preorders for the handset has reached the 9 million mark in just a couple of days’ time after Samsung unveiled its current flagship device back in May. Because of the overwhelming demand for the handset, Samsung had a difficulty in coming up with the required number of units of the handset in time which led to delays in the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III on a global scale.

In US shores alone, all carriers who are supposed to launch their respective versions of the handset experienced delays in getting the Samsung Galaxy S III launched, one way or the other. In the case of Verizon, the wireless provider is said to be the last among the wireless providers in our side of the world to line its shelves up with the handset. In fact, Verizon initially planned a June 21 launch for the handset but as we all know now, that pegged launch date did not materialize. There were even rumors that the release date got delayed several times with dates such as July 11 then July 12 getting mentioned as the day that the Samsung Galaxy S III will finally make its debut in the shelves of the wireless provider.

However, Verizon has decided to put these rumored launch dates of its version of the Samsung Galaxy S III to rest. With this, the wireless provider has finally confirmed via a press statement that its version of the handset will become available in its brick and mortar retail locations on July 10. This means that in just a couple of days, Verizon subscribers who are eyeing to get their hands on the carrier’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S III will finally get their chance of playing with the handset in person.

In other news, it was also confirmed that Verizon has already started shipping out the handset to those who preordered the Samsung Galaxy S III and these lucky souls can expect the handset to land on their doorsteps either on July 5 or July 6.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy S III starting at $149.
