Released as one of the first handsets on their 4G LTE wireless network, the Samsung Galaxy  S II Skyrocket is exclusive to that AT&T wireless platform. And while the Skyrocket was one of the last Galaxy  S II models to arrive in the United States, the waiting resulted in a processor that has been clocked at approximately 25% better speeds than other Galaxy  S II models such as the Epic  Touch 4G. The Galaxy  S II Skyrocket uses a 1.5 GHz dual core chip as the cornerstone for its processing suite, and delivers a larger than average display at 4.5 inches.

Buy the Samsung Galaxy  S II Skyrocket starting at $99.99.

The microchip set on board the Skyrocket is a Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon package consisting of a dual core Scorpion central processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 220 processing chip dedicated to handling graphics. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and the handset comes with 16 GB of built-in storage. A microSD slot is provided for storage expansion up to 32 GB.

That 4.5 inch display mentioned earlier has a protective layer of scratch and glare resistance overlaying the screen. Samsung’s own Super AMOLED Plus display technology delivers visuals in 16 million different colors, and at a pixel density of 207 pixels per inch. That gives the Galaxy  S II Skyrocket an overall resolution on its screen of 480 x 800 pixels, and capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device. A light sensor is built into the display and automatically adjusts for the best possible brightness level, and an onboard proximity sensor is also present.

That proximity sensor shuts the handset off after extended periods of inactivity, and this results in a talk time of 7.00 hours from a single charge of the 1850 mAh battery. Standby time from a single charge sits at 10.4 days. The camera combo on board the Galaxy  S II Skyrocket includes a 2.0 megapixel chat cam and 8.0 megapixel camcorder. That camcorder is located on the back of the handset, and comes equipped with a video light and LED flash, recording video in 1080P HD resolution.

That front facing chat cam also offers video call support, and records video in 720P HD. Facebook, Twitter, Picasa and YouTube online applications have been preloaded into the handset, and wireless connectivity is offered through both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth access. The Samsung Galaxy  S II Skyrocket is exclusive to that 4G LTE AT&T network and retails for $99 at select AT&T authorized retailers with a standard two-year activation and data plan.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy  S II Skyrocket starting at $99.99.
