In the smartphone scene, niche devices are at a disadvantage because not many of the smartphone-buying population are really that into these kinds of devices. Take the case of the Dell Streak 5 for example. The Dell product did not get the reception it was expecting because the smartphone slash tablet hybrid suffered from an identity crisis that got it confused whether it was an oversized smartphone or an undersized tablet.

Samsung therefore took a big chance when it released the Samsung Galaxy Note, its first generation phablet. At the onset, there were doubts regarding the capability of the phablet to make it big in the smartphone market but after our smartphone-crazed brethren realized the advantages that the Samsung Galaxy Note’s massive screen real estate brought to the table coupled with its impressive specs sheet, the phablet instantly became a hit. Its sales figure even reached the 10 million mark that Samsung decided to put together a successor, the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II was unveiled towards the end of August and as early as now, we already see the interest that the smartphone-buying population is showing for the second generation Samsung phablet. In fact, most of the major wireless carriers in US shores will be releasing their respective variants of the phablet. However, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is not expected to land in US shelves until November.

Our neighbors across the pond in the European continent are luckier though if certain rumors are to pan out. According to one of our sources, the Samsung Galaxy Note II is expected to make its debut in European shelves as early as this week despite the fact that Samsung already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Note II will see a global release in October. Should this rumor turn out to be more than a rumor, users from Germany and Italy will get first dibs on the Samsung Galaxy Note II and will get the chance to get their hands on the phablet on September 27 and September 28, respectively. Users in France, United Kingdom and Netherlands on the other hand have to wait a little longer because the Samsung Galaxy Note II is expected to land in their areas either on October 1 or October 2.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, this anticipation for the phablet is not surprising at all. After all, it is even more capable than the Samsung Galaxy S III in terms of its specs sheet. The phablet packs an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset in its internals and this SoC brings into play a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It will be made available in 16GB, 32GB and 64B in terms of storage with an option for memory expansion made possible by its microSD card slot. Its display remains its standout feature with its 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department is just as capable with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP snapper.
