Back in the day, there was not much interest in smartphone slash tablet hybrids because of the relative bulk and heft of these devices. Take the case of the ill-fated Dell Streak 5 which was released a couple of years back. The Dell hybrid was adjudged as the first “phablet” to get released in the market but did not get the warm reception it was hoping for from the smartphone-buying population. This is because the device suffered from an identity crisis that got it confused whether it was an oversized smartphone or an undersized tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II for Sprint is available for a special discounted holiday price tag now starting at $139.99.

Samsung however changed the way people looked at the phablet when it released the Samsung Galaxy Note last year. Though the first generation Samsung phablet was not initially accepted by our smartphone-crazed brethren, it still went on and became a big hit after people realized the advantages of its massive screen real estate and impressive components under the hood. With its success, the Korean electronics giant followed up with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note II back in August.

Since then, the Samsung Galaxy Note II became one of the bestsellers of the Korean electronics giant and became a potent one-two punch combination along with the Samsung Galaxy S III in Samsung’s bid for market domination. The second generation Samsung phablet was released in US shores not only by all major wireless providers but by some regional carriers as well making it one of the more popular handsets in our side of the world today. This is proven further by the fact that the sales figures of the Samsung Galaxy Note II have already breached the 5 million mark – a testament to the popularity of the massive device.

If you happen to have Sprint for your wireless provider of choice and have been eyeing the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G for quite some time now but hasn’t decided on handing over that hard-earned dinero yet, now would be a good time to pull the trigger. As it stands, Sprint has already given the green light to its authorized resellers to slash the price point of the phablet making it a whole lot easier on the budget now. Of course, you will still be required to sign a new two-year service agreement with the Now Network if you want to take advantage of the Samsung Galaxy Note II at its heavily-discounted price point.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the handset is already running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this is powered by its Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. This SoC comes with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz along with a staggering 2GB of RAM while its storage space comes up to 16GB. This of course can still be expanded by using the microSD card slot of the device. As for its display, the Samsung Galaxy Note II packs a massive 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department is a virtual twin of the Samsung Galaxy S III with its rear 8MP shooter and front 1.9MP snapper.

You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note II for a reduced price now starting at $139.99.
