Arriving on February 7 exclusive to the AT&T wireless network in the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4G Android smartphone is unique in several ways. The native handwriting recognition technology on board certainly sets the handset apart, and the 5.3 inch capacitive touch screen is the largest in the entire 4G smartphone marketplace. The integrated smart stylus S Pen teams up with the huge display to allow you to create artwork, draw, take notes, write-to-text and write-to-email in your own handwriting.

You can also add notes to previously recorded video and snapshots. The Samsung Galaxy Note is also unique in that you have a choice of handset colors, either Ceramic White or Carbon Blue, foregoing the typical and boring black which most handsets offer.

AT&T recently lowered the retail price of their new flagship phone/tablet to $189 with a standard new two-year activation and data plan at select retailers. Samsung also announced that the Galaxy Note 4G would be receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system in a free over the air update by the end of June this year. Joining the Gingerbread operating system which is offered out-of-the-box is Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, and popular online destinations Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter apps have been pre-installed. Near Frequency Communications (NFC) support is also present.

That 5.30 inch display delivers visuals in more than 16 million colors and 285 pixels per inch, for a high-end screen resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. Super AMOLED display technology is used, and standard light and proximity sensors are built in. Delivering approximately 25% better battery life than the typical 4G smartphone, the Galaxy Note offers up to 10.0 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 2,500 mA battery on board.

The Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip package powering the handset includes one of the quickest central processors of anysmartphone, a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion chip. An Adreno 220 microchip handles all the graphics processing, 16 GB of storage is built into the Galaxy Note, and a full 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is present. A microSD slot is provided for storage expansion capabilities. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder offers autofocus, smile detection and preloaded scenes, as well as multishot and panorama shot taking capability. That rear facing handset provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and a 2.0 megapixel chat cam is present up front, delivering video call support and portrait snapshot functionality.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $189.
