With the current developments that are happening in the smartphone market, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note has a lot of good things going on for it at the moment. Looking back, the phablet is not the first smartphone slash tablet hybrid to be released to the market. In fact, it was the Dell Streak 5 that earned that distinction. Sad to say, the Dell hybrid was a little ill-fated when it hit the shelves because it had an identity crisis of not knowing whether it was an oversized smartphone or an undersized tablet.

There were no such issues confronting the Samsung Galaxy Note though. After getting announced late last year, the phablet proceeded to become a niche device and its manufacturer proudly announced that 5 million units of the Samsung Galaxy Note have already been sold on a global scale. Not only that, the eagerly awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update has finally landed on the international version of the tablet and giving it a taste of the latest version of the Google mobile operating system after the supposed Q1 rollout date of the ICs refresh for the phablet was pushed back to Q2. Because of the delay, Samsung included a Premium Suite of applications to the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy Note which were basically applications that are designed to let a user take advantage and fully maximize the S-Pen stylus of the phablet.

Our smartphone-crazed brethren in US shores in fact thought that the Samsung Galaxy Note will not land in our side of the world because Samsung announced at the time of the phablet’s unveiling that the Samsung Galaxy Note may not make its way to US shores. AT&T proceeded to change that and had the phablet added on to its lineup of Android-powered devices.

And now, it has become more affordable to make the Samsung Galaxy Note your mobile weapon of choice because select AT&T authorized online retailers have slashed the price point of the phablet to just $199.99 from a previous high of $229.99. This price point of course includes a new two-year subscription with AT&T for that matter. If you are having difficulties in making up your mind, we have the specs sheet of the phablet below to give you an idea of the components and capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note packs a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset under the hood and this powers the operation of the device. On the other hand, a dual-core Scorpion processor is paired with 1GB of RAM to give the phablet a very snappy performance. The storage space of the Samsung Galaxy Note comes up to 16GB but a dedicated memory expansion slot enables a user to beef up the onboard storage of the device. The claim to fame however of the Samsung Galaxy Note is its massive 5.3-inch SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. A capable camera department is also onboard the device with a rear 8MP autofocus shooter and a 2MP front-facer.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $199.
