rednexus5When the Nexus 5 launched last year it was one of the best sellers that Google put on the market.  With a significant boost in power and performance over the Nexus 4 from a year before that, the Nexus 5 is considered one of the most affordable high end smartphones on the market today.  The phone featured many things, but most importantly, the Android 4.4 KitKat software.  Other than that, having LTE support and a 5-nich 1080p HD resolution were just a couple more reasons to check the phone out.

Now that the phone has been around for a few months, typically it would be time to start thinking about the 6th installment to the Nexus smartphone family, but a different rumor popped up last week.  According to reports, the Nexus 5 could be coming in brand new colors via the Google Play Store giving customers that chance to customize their Nexus with 8 different colors.  Those rumors were followed up with a report that suggested that Google was, in fact, working on an all red Nexus 5 smartphone.  There is also a chance that the company could release an all bright yellow option as well.

Even though some images of the new color have appeared online, they are most likely faked via Photoshop as it is quite easy to change the color of anything with that program and pass it off as real.  Because Google actually sells a red bumper case for the Nexus 5, the images are most likely of smartphones with those attached to them.  Google has been rumored to be bringing more color options to the Nexus family for some time, so those reports can be taken seriously, it was just a matter of when it was going to happen.

Right now you can get the Nexus 5 in white or black, but since the customizable Moto X hit the shelves a few months ago, more customizations are being demanded by the consumer.  In the past it was easy to just add a new colored case to your phone to give it some color, but now smartphones owners want to get a custom color right out of the box.  The red version of the Nexus 5 could arrive around the end of February into March, with a yellow option and gold option to follow shortly after that.
