The Android ecosystem has been the platform of choice among power users and hackers because of the relative ease of tinkering with an Android-powered handset to get access to numerous personalization and customization options it offers. However, Verizon is always going against tradition because of its long history of releasing high-end devices with a locked bootloader. This was the case when it launched its variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III and this was also repeated when it released the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II for Verizon is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $149.99.

The hardworking boys and girls of the developer communities however wouldn’t just like down and take everything Big Red dishes and have always been very diligent in finding a work around to unshackle the bootloader of both the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Note II. In both cases, they were very successful thereby ensuring that both devices can be tinkered with by their users. Verizon however had an answer to this and the carrier quietly rolled out an update a couple of days back which allegedly fixed the Exynos exploit that allowed users to root and unlock the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

With the update that cranked up the software version of the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II to I605VRALL4, the second generation Samsung phablet apparently will no longer be susceptible to rooting and unlocking. The developer communities again however will not take this without putting up a good fight and again, they are successful.

AdamOutler over at XDA Developers has managed to find a way to circumvent the latest software update that “locked down” the Samsung Galaxy Note II. This simply means that you now have the option to once again root and unlock your Samsung Galaxy Note II even after the latest security update has already been applied to the phablet. If you are interested in once again unshackling your Samsung Galaxy Note II, all you have to do is download all the needed files and follow the instructions posted by AdamOutler and before you know it, you already have root access to your handset again.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the handset reached official status when its addition to the stable of Verizon was unveiled back in August. The handset however only made it to the shelves of Big Red in the last quarter of 2012.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Note II relies on its Exynos 4412 chipset to power its operations. The said SoC brings into play a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor working together with a staggering 2GB of RAM to deliver the computing muscled required by the handset for a flawless performance. The Samsung Galaxy Note II can be had in a 16GB and a 32GB model in terms of storage space but a microSD slot in its chassis enables a user to expand the internal memory of the handset. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Note II sports a humongous 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.9MP snapper.

You can purchase the Galaxy Note II for Verizon at a discounted price tag now starting at $149.99.
