lgoptimusgWhile first quarter earnings were down for LG Electronics, their smartphone subdivision kept the numbers for the company from being worse. The 10.3 million smartphones they shipped in Q1 2013 were the most ever for LG in a single quarter. Overall revenues in LG’s mobile business division totaled 3.21 trillion won ($2.96 billion), which is a growth of 28.5 percent from the same year-ago quarter. A company spokesperson stated that much of the credit for the smartphone record was due to sales of the LG Optimus G, a 4G Android smartphone.

The LG Optimus G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

The LG Optimus G hit the new Sprint 4G LTE Network in early November of last year, and the handset was most recently spotted online with a one penny price tag on contract from Amazon. The phone released on the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android operating system, but has since been upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1. The sleek black chassis design is a slight departure from the appearance of most other Android phones, and the Chrome for Android mobile web browser has been pre-installed.

The handset provides two energy conserving features, Power Saver and Eco Mode. The optional Power Saver feature automatically adjusts your smartphone settings once battery life falls below 30%. You can choose which settings this feature affects, and when operating in Eco Mode, the LG Optimus G uses two cores instead of all four. The processor is a quad core 1.5 GHz CPU, which is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 system chip. The Optimus G also delivers a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of pre-installed storage space.

Designed in a slim 0.33 inch (8.45 mm) profile, the LG Optimus G delivers a large 4.70 inch True HD IPS+ Touch Hybrid Display. Resolution runs 1,280 x 768 pixels, and that WXGA quality screen benefits from a high-end pixel density at 318 pixels per inch. A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass offers scratch and chip protection, and a full 13.0 hours of talk time can be achieved from a full battery charge. The LG Optimus G for Sprint is NFC capable out-of-the-box, and comes with Dolby mobile sound enhancement and a YouTube video player in its multimedia package.

The rear facing camcorder on the LG Optimus G offers a 13 megapixel sensor, one of the highest megapixel counts of any smartphone. That rear facing camera provides video capture in 1,080P HD resolution, and delivers features like voice activation, instant multishot capture, exposure compensation, ISO control and white balance presets. The LG Optimus G 4G smartphone also offers a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam.

You can purchase the LG Optimus G at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
