Just before Mobile World Congress is bound to take off, Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer LG is already announcing smartphones one after the other. Just recently, the manufacturer has unveiled the Optimus Vu along with its Optimus L-style line of handsets but seems to have no plans of slowing down. True to its form of being on a roll, LG once again takes centerstage and made the announcement of the LG Optimus 3D MAX via a press release.

This handset is the successor to the original Optimus 3D and basically bumps up the specs sheet of its predecessor and packs everything in a sexier and lighter frame. But the handset’s claim to fame is its ability to take care of 3d photo and video editing right on its massive display that delivers a glasses-free 3D experience.

The LG Optimus 3D MAX will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread for its operating system but the manufacturer has promised an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich soon after it gets launched. The handset will initially be made available in Korean territories this March with Europe and the rest of the world getting its fill of the handset shortly after that. Should you want to get fully acquainted with the device, we have the full specs sheet of the handset to get you up close and personal with the LG Optimus 3D MAX.

As mentioned earlier, the LG Optimus 3D MAX has just been made official and is expected to hit the shelves in the 2nd quarter of the year. In terms of its design and aesthetics, the handset looks like an ugly slab of black plastic except for the fact that it comes with a sexier profile. The vital stats of the handset is pegged at 126.8 x 67.4 x 9.6 mm and it weighs in at 148 grams.

Under the hood, the circuitry of the LG Optimus 3D MAX is built around a Texas Instruments OMAP4430 chipset that gives the smartphone dual-core capabilities via its 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. The processor of the handset is in turn paired with a full gigabyte of RAM and the combination makes the LG Optimus 3D MAX the speed beast that it really is. The internal storage capacity of the handset is pegged at 8GB and a dedicated microSD card slot enables a user to add more storage on the device should its internal memory get depleted. As its name suggests, the LG Optimus 3D MAX delivers a glasses-free 3D experience with its 4.3-inch 3D LCD capacitive multitouch panel. The display itself is fashioned from Gorilla Glass 2 and boasts of a 480 x 800 resolution.

The camera department of the LG Optimus 3D MAX is just as impressive when you come to think about it. It has a pair of rear-facing 5MP autofocus shooters with range finder and selective focus shooting at its back panel that lets you capture stereoscopic images in addition to recording 720p clips in 3d mode while the front-facing video call camera of the handset has a VGA sensor resolution.

The LG Optimus 3D MAX is set to get unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2012 which kicks off in a couple of days and we’ll be sure to give you an update about the handset’s real life performance once this becomes available .
