Nokia seems to be resolved to make it to the tech headlines almost every week. The latest buzz is that the company has sent out invites to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona this month.  After a noticeable absence from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2012, Nokia is expected to unveil its first tablet on February 25th, the first day of MWC.

Earlier, Taiwan-based tech website Digitimes had reported that Nokia was in talks with Microsoft, Qualcomm and Compal Electronics for manufacturing a Windows RT based Lumia tablet. Confirming that, industry sources have stated that the new tablet will be operating on Windows RT and will have a 10.1 inch touchscreen along with two batteries; one in the tablet itself and the other in the keyboard cover. The cover will serve dual purposes as a keyboard and as a kickstand for the tablet.

The screen is expected to be similar to the screen found on the Microsoft Surface RT tablet. Besides that, the tablet will have HDMI support, two USB ports and cellular data connectivity. The main tablet will supposedly have 10-hour battery life with fast charging up to 50 percent in a short period of time. According to sources, Nokia will be rolling out a small number of tablets initially and later move on to Windows 8 devices.

Apart from the tablet, two other smartphones codenamed ‘Catwalk’ and ‘EOS’ are also expected to be announced. While Catwalk will probably serve as a replacement for the Lumia 920 as Nokia’s flagship smartphone, the EOS will come with ‘true’ PureView camera technology, a long running demand of Nokia enthusiasts. Last year, the company released the Nokia 808, the first phone featuring PureView technology with a 41MP sensor.

The EOS will have a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with HD resolution, a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 320 graphics. On the other hand, the Catwalk will be a lighter and thinner version of the Lumia 920 and will feature an aluminium body with squared edges, replacing the polycarbonate shell used currently. The Catwalk has previously been glimpsed in a number of leaked images.

Nokia now seems to be moving on to the next phase of its Windows Phone based strategy. The Catwalk is a clear evolution in Lumia design, and the EOS brings to the table the most heralded innovation in mobile photography in recent years. With the Lumia tablet, Nokia is also expected to mark its first serious entry into the tablet market, which it hopes will go off better than its previous tablet PC attempts.
