gs3vsiphone5Samsung and Apple of the top two competitors in the smartphone marketplace, so it only makes sense to compare their offerings. The most recent American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) data is in concerning smartphones, and there is some revealing information concerning Samsung and Apple. Apple launched their brand-new iPhone 5 late last year, and the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone debuted way back in June of 2012 in the United States. Though the Galaxy S III smartphone arrived a full three months before the iPhone 5, the handset beats out Apple’s current flagship in customer satisfaction, display technology and price.

The Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

The Galaxy S III scored 84 out of a possible 100 customer satisfaction points in the important annual survey, with the iPhone 5 scoring an 82. Another Samsung product, the Galaxy Note II phablet, tied the Galaxy S III with 84 customer service points, and the last generation iPhone 4S was equally as customer satisfying as the iPhone 5 with an 82 as well. Also, an in-depth study of the display on both the Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone and the Apple iPhone five iOS powered device reveals another victory for Samsung.

In both color offerings and screen thinness, the Galaxy S III outperforms the latest iPhone. The iPhone 5 display has been reduced by 0.6 mm from the iPhone 4S, all the way down to just 1.5 mm thick. But the IHS iSuppli Teardown Analysis Service also showed that the Galaxy S III smartphone display measures just 1.1 mm. That makes the display on the iPhone 5 nearly 40% fatter than the Galaxy S III, which has been named the Best Smartphone of 2012 by several industry expos, websites and mobile media platforms.

The thicker the display on a mobile handset, the further that color has to travel before it reaches the user’s vision. The thinner the display, the truer the color. Also, the Galaxy S III scored a victory over the newest Apple smartphone by delivering a full 100% of the NTSC standard for the amount of colors offered. The iPhone 5 delivers just 72% of the available colors a smartphone display can render.

Currently priced at just one penny on contract through select online retail outlets, while the Apple iPhone 5 runs $99 to $199 on contract, the Galaxy S III also employs active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) technology, whereas the iPhone 5 is home to a low temperature polysilicon LCD display. AMOLED displays use a backlight, offering better power efficiency than LCD displays. The Galaxy S III is also exceptionally slim and light, measuring just 0.34 inches (8.6 mm) in thickness, and weighing only 4.70 ounces (133 g). The Galaxy S III offers a 4.8 inch display with True HD resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, and the iPhone 5 delivers a resolution of 640 x 1,136 pixels and on its 4.0 inch screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Black can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
