motoxThe Moto X 4G Android smartphone was the first Motorola Mobility handset to upgrade to the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The rest of the Motorola lineup is receiving an upgrade for the end of the year and into the first quarter of 2014, but Moto X owners already have the software boost on board. The Moto X debuted Motorola’s uniquely packaged set of processors in August of 2013, with the configuration helping to improve battery performance and overall efficiency and speed. The eight separate processing cores include a standalone language processor, separate computing core, powerful and versatile quad core graphics processor and dual core 1.7 GHz CPU.

Heading into the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events at Amazon, the Motorola Moto X was dropped in price to nearly a free “giveaway” level. For the Amazon Holiday Sales Event Moto X shoppers could acquire the popular Android smartphone for just one penny on contract. Heading out of 2013 and into the new year, Amazon has decided to continue that bargain basement deal, but there is no word if this will be the new retail price for the handset going forward, or if this is simply an unadvertised Amazon promotion for a limited time. Either way, with a standard two-year contract, you can currently purchase the powerful Motorola Moto X 4G at the Amazon Wireless store online from multiple carriers for just $0.01.

The phone delivers a very large display and extremely high pixel density, as well as plenty of RAM allotment and a rear facing camera with new ClearPixel technology. This allows the 10.0 megapixel snapper to capture more light than other smartphone camera lenses, while also reducing blur and noise. The screen mentioned above runs 4.70 inches, offering a True HD resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. Pixel density runs 316 pixels per inch, with the multitouch, capacitive AMOLED display protected against wear and tear by a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass.

You can squeeze at least 13.0 hours of conversation time out of a single charge on the Moto X, and while the handset offers 16 GB of onboard storage without a microSD slot, Google Drive has checked in with an extra free 50 GB of virtual storage place in the cloud. The rear camera mentioned above records in a 16 to 9 True HD aspect ratio, and is capable of slow-motion recording as well. Video is recorded in stereo sound at 1,080P HD resolution and 30 frames per second, and Moto X 4G owners can also take self portraits and enjoy video chat calls with the front facing chat cam.
