motox-bAs the largest Internet retailer in the world, Amazon can pretty much do whatever it likes. Fortunately, this is a good thing for Android smartphone shoppers in general and Motorola Moto X purchasers specifically. That handset delivers a large high-resolution display, ample RAM memory and a slim and light design, and was recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless store online starting at $0.01 on contract, available from multiple wireless carriers in the United States.

Available in the mobile marketplace since August 23 of last year, the Motorola Moto X is preparing for a European launch. Google-owned Motorola Mobility has sent out invitations to a special event being held in London for January 14, which reads as follows: “Following the global launch of the Moto G, we would like to invite you to join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey, as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products.”

It is assumed that the Motorola Moto X is the product being referred to, even though the newer Motorola Moto G has not made its way to Europe either. Delivering a 4.7 inch 720P AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, and a 10 megapixel camera, the Motorola Moto X debuted that company’s X8 mobile computing system. A special collection of eight processing cores shares operational and processing duties, which makes for a quicker user interface for the Moto X owner.

This also helps deliver special “always on” features, which allow you to wake the Moto X handset up from standby mode simply by saying, “Okay, Google Now.” The phone also debuted an Active Display notification feature which helps conserve battery life, as well as Touchless Control, which delivers multiple voice control functions. The 10.0 megapixel snapper located on the back of the handset is the main camera, and benefits from Clear Pixel technology that lets it soak up more light than the typical smartphone camera, while also minimizing blur and noise.

Measuring 10.4 mm (0.41 inches) and weighing just 130 g (4.59 ounces), the handset is lightweight and compact considering its large display and attractive hardware package. A minimum of 13.0 hours of all-around use is provided after a full battery charge, better than the industry average of 11 hours. 2.0 GB of RAM is on board, as is 16 GB of built-in storage and a free 50 GB of Google Drive virtual cloud storage space. The rear facing snapper records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and there is a front facing chat cam also on board.
