droidultraThe new year has greeted Android smartphone shoppers with a Motorola Droid Ultra 4G Verizon handset that was recently spotted with a one penny price tag. At the Amazon Wireless store online the exceptionally slim Motorola Droid Ultra is available for one penny on contract currently, in either red or black color options. The phone boasts the customized Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System, a True HD 720P display, 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a 10.0 megapixel Clear Pixel camera.

By allowing a versatile and powerful graphics processor, single language processing core and separate contextual computing core to share processing duties, your overall user experience is speedy across all operations. This is because the 1.7 GHz dual core central processor is free to focus on your more timely and important requests and operations. The language processing core also helps deliver a feature Motorola is calling Touchless Control, accessible simply by saying, “Okay, Google Now.”

This awakens the slim Motorola Droid Ultra 4G even if it is in standby mode, and you can then operate the device using multiple hands-free voice commands. And extended battery life is the benefit of the new Active Display feature which Consumer Reports says makes the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini more attractive as smartphone purchases than the iPhone 5S and 5C models. The technology allows the phone to understand when it is in your pocket or purse, or lying face down, and it skips sending you notifications.

This obviously saves battery power, as does the Active Display trait of only illuminating the portion of your display which is required to show your notifications. Home to a large 5.0 inch display with a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, the Motorola Droid Ultra is ensconced with scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and a durable Kevlar back plate, but still measures just 7.18 mm (0.28 inches) in thickness, making the Droid Ultra one of the slimmest smartphones ever designed.

That slim stature does not keep the 2,130 mA battery from delivering excellent performance, offering more than double the industry average at 28.0 hours of all-around use after a full battery charge. Standby time runs approximately 2 weeks, with 16 GB of built-in data storage on board. The rear facing 10.0 megapixel snapper mentioned above is capable of recording video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution), and a front facing chat cam with a 2.0 megapixel sensor is on board for Skype and video chat support.
