Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD Update Improves Camera, Security, Roaming

droidrazrmaxxhdThe Droid Razr MAXX HD has just received a software update from Verizon. The handset runs on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, and Verizon announced this week they have pushed software version 9.16.6.XT926.Verizon.en.US out to Droid Razr MAXX HD smartphones in an over the air update. Included are Google Security Patches, camera upgrades, Wi-Fi and data bug fixes and other performance improvements. The handset was recently seen retailing for $99 on contract at select online retail outlets like the Amazon Wireless store.

That software upgrade for the Droid Razr MAXX HD addresses and fixes some data roaming issues that a small amount of handset owners have reported. Also, when you use the USB connection on the phone, connection/disconnection detection is much better with this update. Wi-Fi connectivity has been improved substantially, new wallpaper options are shown, and camera functionality in low light situations and using the touch to focus feature have both been improved as well.

Launching on the Verizon network in the United States on October 18 of last year, the Droid Razr MAXX HD is available currently in either black or white. NFC wireless connectivity is offered out-of-the-box, both YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed, and the Chrome for Android mobile web browser is also on board. The handset offers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder which is capable of 1,080P HD resolution video recording. And video chat and video calls can be placed using the front facing1.3 megapixel camera.

Verizon has equipped the Droid Razr MAXX HD with a personal identification number locking system and remote hard drive wipe. There is also government grade data encryption which is automatically applied to your calendar, contacts and e-mail info for extra security. Slim as 4G smartphones go at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm), the handset also offers a layer of waterproof protection thanks to a special nanocoating. Kevlar and aluminum combine for a rugged body, and a layer of Gorilla Glass offers scratch resistance.

The large 4.7 inch Super AMOLED screen boasts a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivering more than 16 million colors at 312 pixels per inch. Talk time is generous at 21.0 hours off of a full battery charge, and that full charge can alternately deliver 13.0 hours of video playback, 27.0 hours of streaming music and 8.0 hours of web surfing. The handset comes equipped with 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of built-in data storage space, and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU.

  1. I have the Razr Maxx 4G and since the update I have an email that I sent back in November that failed to send I can’t get it to deleat. So far everything else is good.

  2. This jacked up my contacts, my groups andgallery. I wish they would have just left it alone. If its not broke, don’t fix it.

  3. Where can I get a book on how to use this phone? Videos do not help me as I cant memorize that. I need a book or even pages on the computer I can print out.
