droidrazrmaxxhdThe industry average for talk time on a 4G smartphone after a single battery charge is 8.0 hours. And none of us are probably going to ever have a need to place a single call that lasts that long. But we also do other things with our smartphone during the day. We surf the web, we send and receive e-mails, and fire out text messages while watching movies and downloading applications. This all takes an obvious toll on our smartphone battery. And of course, when we drift out of our wireless carrier’s coverage zones, our batteries have to work harder still.

So it is no wonder that phones like the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD with supreme battery performance are a big hit in today’s smartphone marketplace. At 21.0 hours of talk time offered from a single battery charge, the handset delivers nearly 3 times the industry average. That helps make the handset more portable than other forms which require you to look for an outlet for your charger. We have all seen smartphone owners walking around with their “portable” cell phone in one hand, and a wall charger in the other.

Cell phones do not live up to their mobile designation if we are always tethering them to a charger. And with the recent Pew Internet study which revealed that cell phone owners between the ages of 18 and 24 average an unbelievable 109.5 text messages per day, the first feature a smartphone manufacturer should deliver is excellent battery life. Motorola has done a great job with their Droid Razr lineup in that regard, and the Droid Razr MAXX HD is the premium example.

The Droid Razr Maxx HD handset arrived last October on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, and that speedy network helps extend the portability of the handset as well. Covering 440 major markets in the United States, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system is 4 times larger than that of AT&T, Verizon’s nearest LTE competitor. Couple that excellent nationwide coverage in the US with a 3,300 mA extended life cell and you get excellent battery performance.

If you enjoy from watching movies, you can stream 10.0 hours of video from a single battery charge. The Droid Razr MAXX HD also allows 13.0 hours of video playback from the same single charge. Web surfing takes the biggest toll on cell phone batteries, but you can manage a full 8.0 hours of continual web surfing with the Droid Razr MAXX HD. And finally, the handset delivers an incredible 27.0 hours of streaming music from a single charge. The handset currently retails for around $99 on contract at select online retailers like the Amazon Wireless store.
