Motorola Droid Razr Maxx 4G – What the Max Means

Smartphone manufacturers love using catchy little names for their handsets that have something to do with the performance offered by the particular device. And the Motorola Droid  Razr MAXX 4G Android smartphone is no different. That handset offers the most talk time and video playback from a single battery charge of any smartphone, and also delivers the max amount of out-of-the-box, user accessible storage of any 4G device as well. A single charge of the oversized 3,300 mA battery on board the handset delivers up to 21.5 hours of talk time or 15.0 hours of video playback, and out-of-the-box the device comes with 16 GB of storage built-in, and ships with an additional removable 16 GB microSD card for 32 GB total.

The Droid Razr MAXX 4G arrived on January 26 on the Verizon 4G LTE network which provides speeds up to 10 times faster than their 3G system. That handset is splash resistant, and delivers a unique looking Kevlar and aluminum body, accessing simultaneous voice and data on that Verizon 4G LTE system. Measuring 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.35 inches (130.7 x 68.9 x 8.99 mm) and weighing 5.11 oz (145 g), the device is exceedingly thin when compared to other smartphones even with the extended life battery pack it carries.

The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G delivers a 4.30 in Super AMOLED Advanced display with overall resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. That is offered at an above average pixel density of 256 pixels per inch, and standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the handset. Light and proximity sensors offer auto brightness adjustment and battery conservation, and a layer of Gorilla Glass protects the screen against chipping and scratching.

The hardware package on board includes a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip suite which is centered around a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor. A separate PowerVR SGX540 GPU handles all graphics requests, and video out is provided by a microHDMI slot or wireless DLNA connectivity. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is also on board, and a microSD slot provides storage expansion.

Built into the back of the handset is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder providing 1,080P HD video capture. The front facing chat cam runs 1.3 megapixels, and offers portrait snapshot capability as well as providing video call support. The Motorola Droid  Razr MAXX 4G Android smartphone also comes equipped with a built-in music player, and a YouTube video player has been pre-installed.  The Droid Razr Maxx is currently available starting at $99 at select online retailers.
