The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G Android smartphone took all the admirable characteristics of the best-selling Droid Razr, added an 85% larger battery while still keeping a slim profile, and the result is the best battery performance of any smartphone. Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system is now available on the handset, a 1.2 GHz dual core central processor runs the operations while a PowerVR SGX540 GPU handles graphics duties, and high resolution video capture is possible via the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder.

But the Kevlar and aluminum coated, splash-proof Droid Razr MAXX can also function as a laptop, desktop PC and high definition multimedia center, and as a hands-free in car GPS system. The optional Lapdock 100 and Lapdock 500 accessories transform the Droid Razr MAXX 4G smartphone into a 10.1 inch or 14.0 inch entry-level laptop, and add 5.0 or 7.0 hours of battery life to the handset respectively. Both laptop hybrids have full keyboard and track pad, and are lighter and smaller than the average laptop.

The HD Station made specifically for the Droid Razr MAXX 4G turns the handset into a high definition multimedia center with HDMI out access for displaying visuals on that large screen HDTV and monitors. It also provides three USB ports, allowing the user to hook up a desktop monitor, keyboard and mouse, and use the Droid Razr MAXX’s WebTop OS to surf the web and access all the functionality of a standard desktop PC. The handset can also snap into the Motorola Vehicle Navigation Dock with rapid charger to provide hands-free voice call access and turn by turn GPS navigation.

The 4.3 inch display on board the Razr MAXX is protected by a scratch resistant and glare reducing layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, and has a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels delivered at 256 pixels per inch. Standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the phone, and visuals are rendered in more than 16 million different colors to the Super AMOLED Advanced touchscreen. A 1.3 megapixel chat cam is found on the front of the Droid Razr MAXX, and built into the back of the handset is the 8.0 megapixel camcorder mentioned earlier, which provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution.  Buy the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx starting at $99.

  1. Just bought two. Replaced Droid X’s

  2. Definitely one of the best smartphone available right now! Even if its main selling point is only the battery, it’s most definitely a great, if not monumental, selling point to have. 9.5/10
