The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX owes its very existence to the skinny, feature packed Motorola Droid Razr 4G. The skinniest smartphone ever designed at the time of its release, the Razr 4G handset nonetheless packed tons of highflying software and hardware that helped make it an immediate bestseller for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States. Trying to the top such a best-selling handset is always a tough job for smartphone manufacturers, but Motorola tasked their designers with keeping the same Kevlar and aluminum rugged body, Gorilla Glass protected display and splashproof nanocoating the Razr 4G delivered, while also adding extreme battery performance.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx 4G is on sale now starting at 69.99.

The Motorola designers and developers were successful, and the creation is the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G. The handset delivers the most run time of any smartphone at 21.5 hours, alternately delivering 15.0 hours of video playback from a single charge of the 3,300 mA battery which is 85% larger than that found on the skinny Droid Razr 4G. But although the oversized, extended life battery has been added, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G is still slim, with overall dimensions of 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.35 inches (130.7 x 68.9 x 8.99 mm), weighing 5.11 ounces (145 g).

That handset delivers simultaneous voice and data access, meaning you can check your e-mail or browse the web while in the middle of a voice call. The Verizon 4G LTE system delivers speeds 10 times faster than their 3G platform, and the screen is a large 4.30 inch Super AMOLED Advanced model. Capacitive multitouch gestures are used to navigate the handset and resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels. Single charge battery standby time runs almost 16 days, and in the hardware package on board the handset a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip suite is built around a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor.

That chip benefits by the presence of a PowerVR SGX540 GPU which handles all graphics processing, and video out is supplied by both microHDMI and DLNA technology. The Razr MAXX 4G contains 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, 16 GB of built-in data storage, and ships with a 16 GB removable microSD card, delivering the most out-of-the-box data storage at 32 GB. A microSD slot has been built in and accepts cards up to 32 GB in size. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder records video in 1,080P HD resolution, and is joined in the camera combo by a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam.

Save $130 and buy the Droid Razr Maxx 4G starting at 69.99.
