droidminiofficialThe Motorola Droid Mini is a 4G Android smartphone running the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system. That handset arrived in the mobile marketplace in July of this year, found on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. Debuted alongside the Droid Ultra Android Max at a special press event in New York, the Motorola Droid Mini will appeal to those smartphone shoppers looking for a large, high resolution display and speedy performance with all day battery power, while also offering a compact form factor. The handset also debuts the new customized Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System.

The Motorola Droid Mini can be purchased at a reduced price starting at $49.99, saving you up to $50 over carrier prices.

Basically a specialized dual core Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.7 GHz, the customized CPU actually benefits from its neighboring processors. The graphics processor on board is a quad core model which also chips in with low-draw processing chores. A natural language processor is also on board, which delivers the Motorola boast of “always on” functionality. The handset can understand and respond to your voice requests even when it is in sleep mode, and a contextual computing processor handles many standard operations, allowing the central processor to focus on your more important requests.

By handing everyday operations to the six processing cores not found in the central processor, the Motorola Droid Mini 4G effectively conserves battery power. Despite measuring just 4.77 x 2.41 x 0.35 inches (121.25 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm) in size, the handset can deliver a full-charge run time of up to 28.0 hours. This is more than double the industry average, and the phone can also last in standby mode for a full 13.0 days. The Droid Mini offers a quick capture photo mode for instant image snapping, mobile gamers will appreciate that Ingress has been preloaded and is ready for use out-of-the-box, and touchless control allows for hands-free voice control operation.

The display on board the handset is a full 4.30 inches, delivering a True HD resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels at 342 pixels per inch. NFC wireless support is on board, and the Motorola Droid Mini 4G can take a licking and keep on ticking, thanks to the DuPont Kevlar fiber unibody form factor and Gorilla Glass display protection. The Mini also supports wireless charging, and delivers a generous 2.0 GB of RAM system memory and 16 GB of built-in data storage space. Skype and video call support is provided by the front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam, and the camera combo also includes a rear facing 10.0 megapixel snapper.

That rear camera records video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution), and has a special “quick capture” mode which can be accessed by merely twisting your wrist twice. YouTube and Picasa applications are pre-installed, with the Motorola Droid Mini 4G delivering mobile hotspot Wi-Fi access to multiple wireless devices. Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity is also on board.

The Droid Mini can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
