droidminiThe 4G capable Motorola Droid Mini smartphone recently received notification that a camera upgrade was on the way. The software update for the 10.0 megapixel snapper on the back of the Droid Mini smartphone will improve the speed in which you are able to take pictures, autofocus improvements have been made, as well as upgrades to true color representation. Shoppers for a compact, slim and light smartphone with a large high-resolution display and more than double the average talk time from a full battery charge will also appreciate that the Droid Mini 4G recently received a rather substantial price drop.

The Motorola Droid Mini can be purchased at a reduced price starting at one penny, saving you up to $49.98 over carrier prices.

The handset debuted at $100 with a standard two-year contract, and was quickly lowered to $50 on contract. The Droid Mini is currently priced at just one penny on contract at select online locations, including the Amazon Wireless store. It is not known, and we could receive no verification, whether this is a time-sensitive seasonal sale or an ongoing price level. The Motorola Droid Mini made waves when it arrived with the Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX smartphones at a special press event in New York a few months ago, showcasing a unique chip setup.

The handset delivers the 8 core processing center Motorola is calling the X8 Mobile Computing System, which does things a little bit differently than the typical smartphone. Motorola Mobility said that they wanted to deliver extreme battery performance, and that is helped by the special quad core graphics processor, separate language processing core and stand-alone contextual computing core.

Those six different processing cores join the main central processor in handling specific tasks, which allows that CPU to focus on your more important operations and requests. Thanks to this new chip set up, the Droid Mini 4G dual core CPU Snapdragon S4 Pro main processor has been clocked as high as 1.7 GHz. That natural language processing core also delivers a touchless control feature which is “always on.”

Simply say, “Okay, Google Now,” and the Motorola Droid Mini 4G understands your voice, even when the phone is in standby mode. You can then use the Google Now virtual personal assistant and contextual search engine hands-free. The Droid Mini 4G delivers a large 4.30 inch True HD display with a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, a talk time of 28.0 hours after a full charge, and a slim and compact body. The phone measures just 4.77 x 2.41 x 0.35 inches (121.25 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm), and weighs just 4.59 ounces (130 g). The Droid Mini can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at just one penny.
