When you are in the market for a new smartphone, the first thing that you will notice among the handsets that line up the shelves is that they are mostly full touchscreen devices. In fact, smartphones with a full QWERTY physical keyboard have become so rare nowadays that if you happen to prefer doing your messaging chores on a physical keyboard that gives off a nice tactile feedback, you will have a hard time getting yourself this type of handset.

However, if you happen to have Verizon for your wireless provider of choice, then your life just got easier. This is because the wireless provider still has the Motorola Droid 4 in its lineup of Android-powered devices. And as expected, this handset has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that will make your messaging chores a whole lot easier.
In fact, its physical keyboard is the standout feature of the handset and the attribute that makes it standout from the rest of the smartphone pack. The keyboard of the Motorola Droid 4 has ample spacing in between the keys so the probability of typographical errors is significantly reduced. Not only that, these keys also give off a nice tactile feedback that beats typing on a full touchscreen device anytime. In addition to that, Verizon also rolled out an update for the Motorola Droid 4 a couple of months ago which improves the behavior of the handset’s keyboard backlight.
The Motorola Droid 4 is still in the Gingrebread generation but the handset has already been confirmed to get upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Previously in the Planning and Evaluation stage, the handset is now in the Development stage of its ICS deployment and is expected to get upgraded to the latest version of the Android operating system by Q3 of the current year.
As for the handset, the Motorola Droid 4 reached official status when it was unveiled by Motorola back in January. The handset became available a month later and has the distinction of being the slimmest handset with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard in its frame. Its full dimensions come up to 127 x 67.3 x 12.7 mm while its catch weight is at 178.9 grams.
Under the hood, the circuitry of the Motorola Droid 4 is built around a Texas Instruments OMAP4430 chipset. This SoC gives the handset dual-core capabilities with its 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor while a full gigabyte of RAM supports the processor in delivering the computing power needed by the handset. Its storage space comes up to 16GB but this can still be expanded using the dedicated microSD card slot of the handset. The display of the Motorola Droid 4 is a 4.0-inch TFT panel with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels while its camera department gives the smartphone a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP webcam.  Buy the Motorola Droid 4 starting at just one penny!
