Coming down the pike is a brand new Smartphone by Motorola available on the Sprint network.  The new Motorola Photon 4G is powered by Android 2.3, or “Gingerbread” as some like to call it, has a huge 4.3 inch display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 1GHz dual-core processor.  Another feature that is becoming more popular is the kickstand on the back that automatically puts the screen orientation into landscape when in use.  The price point has not been released but the company hopes to have the phone on the store shelves sometime this summer.

The Photon is the 3rd 4G phone from Motorola, released after the Bionic and the Atrix.  Motorola is a little behind the competition when it comes to releasing advanced phones on the 4G network.  The features of the Photon prove the wait is worth it.  Motorola also says the Photon will have increased security by 3LM (purchased by Motorola this year) and productivity tools for business with the Blur software.  One major factor in the popularity of new smartphones is the ability to work internationally and the Photon is GSM compliant so it’s perfect for traveling businessmen.

On top of the features listed above, the Motorola Photon has the Tergra 2 processor from Nvidia and dual cameras, one of which is 8MP and used for video chat.  The listed features are a good fit for personal and business use. Analysts are saying the partnership between Motorola and Sprint is a good for both given that Sprint has the WiMax and Motorola has phones to show off using the network.  The Photon is part of the “superphone” category becoming popular in the industry.  The superphone term refers to those phones that are stacked with huge displays and fast processors above 1 GHz.

Accessories will also be available for the Photon 4G.  The HDMI dock allows users to control a monitor while still taking and making calls at the same time.  Using the dock can give you control of a mouse, keyboard or a remote control, there is also a dock for your car to use it as a GPS.  The Photon 4G can also operate an HDTV and using it as a game controller works very well as reported on many reviews.  Motorola joins the 4G superphone club with the Photon and they also released a lesser type prepaid phone called the Triumph.
