The address by Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer at the world’s largest electronics show, the CES, is something the entire tech world is looking forward to. The company will demonstrate its key consumer products with a little pomp and show and some celebrities. However, it does not plan to undrape any new major products in spite of the fact that this year is going to be big for Microsoft as it plans to launch a range of new consumer products. It is speculated that Microsoft may launch the new version of Windows, Windows 8 and will update the existing operating system on its Windows phones. Windows phones will be updated to a newer version, Windows 7.5 in the mid of this year. Some people also expect that a new version of the gaming console, Xbox is likely to be launched.

A lot of new stuff is coming from Microsoft but it is not going to announce any of these in the CES this time. Keeping in mind the schedule of the launch of its products, the head spokesman, Frank Shaw announced that this would be Microsoft’s last keynote presentation and booth at the confab. He reasoned out that Microsoft’s product releases do not match with the January timing of the CES and hence, they lose their spark among so many other products launched by so many other companies. Therefore, Microsoft has decided to keep its products away from the tech gathering.

Instead of making announcements about products that are not yet ready to hit the stores, the company has decided to highlight the existing products and to remake the announcements it has already made. It is expected that some part of the keynote presentation by Ballmer will focus on Windows 8 but most of it will concentrate on the already existing Windows 7, which was launched more than two years ago.  A glimpse of new laptops and ultra books to be launched by its partners will also be seen. Ballmer is likely to lay stress on the new Windows 8, which looks promising enough to compete with Apple iPads and to power the new generation PCs. Nevertheless, Ballmer is expected to speak about only those features that have already been unveiled earlier.

News about Windows phones will flutter all over the CES but Microsoft will let its partners take the limelight for its powerful OS. Nokia is all set to launch the new Lumia 900. A new console is coming and new phones are likely to be launched. Microsoft has a lot in store for its consumers this year but it has decided to lock the news inside until they are ready.
