The iPhone 5 is soon going to hit the markets and it its launch and the sales following it are expected to be enormous but its competitors are looking to spoil the fun for Apple. Samsung maybe its largest competitor and Apple is lagging behind the Korean giant in terms of sales but there are other companies too such as HTC, LG and Nokia. Another Korean company, LG which has recently released its Optimus G is saying that the new model is going to outperform the iPhone on several fronts and will make life hard for it.

The Optimus G has some impressive features that are going to match the new iPhone if all rumors are to be believed. The Optimus G is going to be powered by a new chip that is clocked at 1.5GGHz and runs 4 cores with a dedicated graphics module. The processor features an Adreno 320 graphics processor and the whole SoC has been tested by Qualcomm and has yielded impressive results. In addition to a new processor that is quite powerful, the Optimus G is going to come with a new type of touch recognition technology. This is quite similar to the “in cell” technology that is going to be featured in the new iPhone. The idea is quite similar though and it involves the glass being directly integrated into the touch sensing mechanism thereby lowering the thickness of it all. The screen is only 3mm thick but features a pixel density of 317.6dpi and comes with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels. The screen is going to be 4.7” in length which is quite higher than the 4” of the iPhone.

Other areas that the Optimus G can look to challenge the iPhone are the camera and battery capacity. It is going to come with a 2100 mAh battery and a 13 megapixel camera, both of which are going to be quite hard for the iPhone to match up to. However, the Optimus G is going to be up against the Galaxy SIII as well, which is doing quite well in the market. Meanwhile, the Windows Phone 8 devices from various manufacturers are also expected so LG better wait and see what it can do to the iPhone amid the other competitors. The fact that it has only ICS is going to dent its image a bit but sales are determined by other things too.
