Kindle Fire HD Helps Kindle Tablet Lineup Hit #1 on Amazon’s Bestseller List

kindlefirehd2013The new Kindle Fire HD is offered in both 7.0 and 8.9 inch models and starts at around $139 this holiday season, and helped the entire Amazon tablet lineup to the #1 bestselling spot on Amazon over the Black Friday to Cyber Monday three day holiday sale. Amazon’s new tablet offers a high definition touchscreen, video playback all the way up to 720P True HD resolution and in plane switching (IPS) display technology. This new tablet version from Amazon also delivers an advanced polarizing filter and special anti-glare technology that delivers perfect viewability in bright light and direct sunlight.

The Kindle Fire HD 7″ tablet can be purchased for immediate shipment starting at $139.

The 7 inch Kindle Fire HD delivers a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels (216 ppi), with the 8.9 inch model offering a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels (254 ppi). Slim at just 0.42 inches (2.6 mm), this year’s Kindle Fire HD tablets are powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory. Both 8 and 16 GB models are available, with up to 10.0 hours of single charge reading, Wi-Fi web surfing, watching video or listening to your favorite tunes. The tablet comes with an included microUSB power adapter and delivers free dual band, single antenna Wi-Fi connectivity.

A 3.5 mm stereo jack is on board, as are stereo speakers with a Dolby Digital Plus audio engine. Built-in Bluetooth support is offered, as is IVONA’s award-winning natural language text-to-speech voice. The Kindle Fire HD tablet is ready for use out-of-the-box, providing a one-year limited warranty and service. Font sizes and colors are adjustable, and a built-in Oxford dictionary is on board. The updated cloud-optimized Amazon Silk browser is faster than on previous Amazon tablets, and Facebook, Twitter and YouTube applications have been integrated for instant share.

As with the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX tablets, the company offers a free 30 day trial of its Prime membership with the Kindle Fire HD, which delivers unlimited movie and TV streaming access to tens of thousands of titles. Amazon also delivers free cloud storage for all Amazon purchases, as well as its own updated IMDB X-Ray integration. Simply tap on any scene on the tablet’s display while watching a television show or movie, and instantly discover which actors are currently on the screen, leapfrog to other movies which they star in, and discover other relative information.

This new tablet lineup includes the popular reading application Goodreads, which allows you access to the world’s largest eReading community, where you can share e-book titles and information with other like-minded readers. A nice improvement over previous Kindle Fire tablets, the new Kindle Fire HD also benefits from an Origami Cover and stand which delivers hands-free viewing and interaction in either portrait or landscape orientation.
