Back in the olden days when quad-core powered smartphones were just mere plans in the drawing boards of smartphone manufacturers, HTC beat everybody to the punch when news about the existence of the HTC Edge leaked out towards the end of 2011. As it stands, the HTC Edge back then was the first smartphone in the world to come with a quad-core processor under the hood. However, the moniker did not stick and the handset went through several name changes before finally settling for HTC One X when it was announced at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona back in February.

For a time, the HTC One X was considered by our smarthone-crazed brethren as the most powerful device available in the market because it was the only handset that offered a quad-core processor under the hood. In US shores, AT&T immediately went to work and had the handset released as the HTC One X. The handset immediately became so popular that it became one of the carrier’s bestselling devices.

Be that as it may, the handset still had its share of issues in the past. We heard about the Wi-Fi issues experienced on the handset a couple of months back. Then there was also the message notification bug that prevented the handset in displaying the necessary information when there are unread messages so users has no way of knowing if new messages came in. These issues have long been taken care of though.

Though this might be the case, the HTC One X still remains as one of the more capable devices currently available in the market today. The only fly in the ointment is the fact that the handset is still waiting for the update that will crank the HTC One X 4G up to Android 41 Jelly Bean. Looking back, HTC immediately took centerstage after the announcement of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and confirmed that the HTC flagship device will indeed get updated to Jelly Bean for that matter.

Sad to say and as is always the case in announcements such as these, there was no mention as to when exactly the Jelly Bean refresh will hit the HTC One X. However, we came across some information that could shed a little light on the Jelly Bean schedule for the handset. As it stands, our sources claim that HTC will start the rollout of the Android 4.1 refresh to the international version of the device by October. This is indeed great news for users of the handset if this pans out because previous rumors have claimed that the update won’t be available until the end of December.

Our sources also claim that the AT&T version of the HTC One X will also get the upgrade to Jelly Bean but users of the handset have to wait a little longer with the update expected to land on the HTC One X 4G from AT&T before Christmas. This is due to the strenuous tests that the carrier puts the update through to ensure that the Jelly Bean firmware is working beautifully with AT&T’s system.
