htconemaxOver the air Android 4.4 KitKat operating system updates for the HTC One Max have been reported in Hong Kong. Most Android operating system updates are released in Asia and move west, meaning that United States and Canadian HTC One Max smartphone owners and shoppers can probably expect the tastily titled Android software upgrade to appear in short order. And with Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona having just finished up, a push to release Android 4.4 to its flagship handsets at this time can also occur for HTC.

The HTC One Max has been announced as an Android 4.4 recipient, so the update will eventually happen, whether over the next couple of weeks or next month. MWC is one of the two biggest mobile industry Expos which occurs every year, along with the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, and HTC is rumored to debut the HTC One 2 at the event. The HTC One debuted at last year’s MWC so it would be logical for HTC to roll out the second iteration of that phone at this year’s conference.

When new smartphones are introduced, even though their actual release doesn’t usually occur until months after, many smartphone manufacturers team up with wireless carriers to announce operating system update releases for their current phones. This keeps their lineup viable, and we could see an official HTC One Max Android 4.4 news release from the company soon. Whenever the latest edition of Android hits the HTC One Max, the Verizon handset with the mammoth display will only become more attractive as a smartphone buying option.

Delivering the HTC Sense 5.5 Android user interface out-of-the-box, the handset features a large 5.9 inch Full HD Super LCD 3 screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. A 4.0 UltraPixel camera is the main snapper, with digital zoom, digital image stabilization and a host of special effects and customization features. 1,080P HD video capture is provided, as is a 2.1 megapixel front facing chat cam. The Snapdragon 600 CPU engine has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, and joins a powerful Adreno 320 GPU, 16 GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot and 2.0 GB of RAM memory in the handset’s hardware profile.

Compared to an industry average of 12.0 full charge hours of all-around use, the HTC One Max offers an impressive 28.0 hours of surfing, downloading and using apps, watching video, placing and receiving phone calls and other use after a full battery charge. The phone comes equipped with a Stereo FM with RDS display capabilities and dual BoomSound stereo speakers, and an intelligent fingerprint scanner which allows for three different profiles.
