Apple has released its long awaited new edition of the iPhone series, the iPhone 4S, in stores this past Friday. As is the case with almost every Apple release, fans queued up outside retail stores long before opening time in order to be among the first few customers to get their hands on the new smartphone.

The company based in Cupertino, California along with the wireless carriers which have struck a partnership with it have already sold out all of the initial stock which was meant for pre-orders of the phone on the first day itself. According to a statement from Apple, the 4S was recorded to have registered more than 1 million pre-orders for the phone during its first day, and the only way for fans to get the phone is to line up outside the retailers in their locality.

As of now, the Apple website gives a time of 1 to 2 weeks for the shipment of the Apple iPhone 4S when ordered online. However, that number is expected to increase further as many customers will have to leave stores without the phone today. During the peak of the demand for iPad, Apple listed a shipping period of as long as four to six weeks. The iPhone’s supply is expected to meet the demand, which means that everyone will get their phone soon enough; however the excitement that the device has generated might even have exceeded the expectations of Apple.

Analysts had reacted with apprehension after the unveiling of the phone as Apple hadn’t made any fundamental changes in its previous flagship phone, the iPhone 4, and both the devices looked identical except a few hardware upgrades. The reaction of the customers, however, has proved that the customers are quite pleased with the company’s offering.  Get the AT&T iPhone 4S starting at $199.

It has always been observed that the newer upgraded models of devices which have come to be the fan favorites across the world, such as the iPhone, iPod and the iPad always draw huge crowds on their release. However, the 4S might have the benefit of good timing as analysts think Apple fans have a special in their hearts for the iPhone 4S as it was the last Apple device which bears the stamp of the company’s late co-founder Steve Jobs. As the demand for the device just keeps increasing, Apple has stated that it will ship more than 25 million units of the device during the fourth quarter.  Learn more about this phone in our detailed iPhone 4S Review.
