There has been a recent spate of announcements from several OEMs regarding the new handsets from their respective lineups. Manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola and the like all held their respective events a couple of weeks back to unveil their new devices but the announcements are mostly for the Android ecosystem. If you however are a Windows Phone fanboy, one of the more notable announcements in the platform is the one made by Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer HTC when it introduced its flagship device for the Windows Phone ecosystem – the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

In US shores, the HTC Windows Phone 8X will be released by Verizon but the handset has been confirmed to making its way north of the border to Canadian territories as well. Nokia however already drew first blood in Canadian shelves when it partnered with Rogers in releasing the Nokia Lumia 920, albeit in limited quantities, earlier last week. HTC however will also do a launch of its own this time around partnering with Rogers and Bell in bringing the HTC Windows Phone 8X to Canadian shelves.

According to our sources, both Bell and Rogers are slated to launch the HTC Windows Phone 8X on November 15. Sad to say, there was no mention of how much the price point of the handset will be. However, if we are to base its price point on the Nokia Lumia 920, there might be a chance that both wireless providers will offer the HTC Windows Phone 8X for $99.99 at its on-contract price.

In other news, the Samsung Ativ S, the Windows Phone flagship device of the Korean electronics giant, is also expected to hit the Canadian shelves in the next couple of weeks. The handset on the other hand will be released by SaskTel, Telus, Bell and Rogers.

As for the HTC Windows Phone 8X, the handset reached official status when it was unveiled back in September. Its aesthetics depart from the typical HTC school of design and the handset has measurements of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm. For its size, it is rather lightweight at its catchweight of just 130 grams. Despite this, the solid build quality of the handset is very apparent and is expected for a flagship device like the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

Under the hood, the HTC Windows Phone 8X already runs Windows Phone 8, the latest iteration of the mobile operating system from software giant Microsoft. This is powered by the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset which comes with a dual-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The HTC Windows Phone 8X comes with 16GB of onboard storage while its display on the other hand is a 4.3-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its camera department boasts of a main 8MP shooter at its back panel while its front bezel houses its front 2.1MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
