The HTC One X 4G Android smartphone delivers simultaneous high definition video and image capture for the first time ever to a mobile handset. That feature, coupled with the large high-resolution screen, powerful dual core processor and overall feature set won the HTC One X a CTIA 2012 Best Smartphone title. Video dedicated website Videomaker gave the HTC One X 4G their coveted CTIA Best Smartphone award at this year’s CTIA Wireless Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana, also commenting that the handset is “as powerful as laptops were about five years ago.”

Buy the HTC One X starting at $129.

The HTC One X launched exclusively on the AT&T 4G LTE system on May 6 of this year, and currently sells for around $169 on contract at select retailers. One of only a handful of smartphones that delivers the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system and Beats full range audio package out-of-the-box, the HTC One X measures 5.31 x 2.75 x 0.35 inches (134.8 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm), and weighs 4.55 ounces (129 g), making it one of the thinnest smartphones available.

Despite that skinny profile, the 4.70 inch Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen is one of the largest found on any smartphone. Pixel density runs much higher than average at 312 pixels per inch, and that creates a high-end screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. The handset uses more than 16 million colors to create a display, and multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device. The built-in light sensor automatically adjusts for the best possible display brightness, and the built-in proximity sensor conserves battery life. The screen is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

Talk time runs above average for a 4G smartphone, at 8.50 hours, and standby time runs approximately 12.6 days on a single charge of the 1,800 mA battery on board. The HTC One X hardware package includes a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip suite that centers around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. A separate Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and 16 GB of data storage are built-in.

The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder that provides simultaneous HD image and video capture also delivers an LED flash, F/2.0 lens, back illuminated sensor (BSI), high dynamic range mode (HDR) and special effects package. Video capture is provided at 1,080P HD resolution, and a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam is also present in the camera package.  Buy the HTC One X starting at $129.
