htconeEven with almost 6 months left to go in the year, it is safe to say the HTC One will go down as one of the most anticipated and powerful smartphones of 2013. With one of the largest and highest resolution displays of any smartphone, double the average mobile handset talk time, a powerful quad core processor, generous RAM memory and onboard storage, the handset has been well received since its launch date in the US. And recent sales data shows that this may be just the savior the floundering HTC has been looking for.

The HTC One just recently hait 5 million units in global sales, and HTC said that revenue for their entire company grew 48% since the Jelly Bean-powered One hit the street. HTC has also stated that sales have reached their highest level in nearly a year, and one market analyst believes that is thanks primarily to the HTC One worldwide popularity. Kevin Chang works for Citigroup Global Markets, and he believes that the HTC One has accounted for a full one-half of the company’s sales. He also said his research shows that global shipments of the handset have doubled from April to reach 1.2 million units in May.

That sales strength is just what the company has been looking for, and those impressive numbers come with the handset battling the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II and iPhone 5 bestsellers. The handset ships with Jelly Bean 4.1 out-of-the-box, and a Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update has been rumored for late summer. Powered by a quad core CPU which HTC says delivers up to 40% more power than the Snapdragon S4 Pro, the HTC One also delivers an extended life battery and impressive hardware profile.

The Sense 5.0 Android UI is on board, and the high-end hardware and software are packed into a slim package. The HTC One 4G running on the Verizon Wireless network in the United States measures just 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness. The 4.70 inch display offers a Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, delivering an industry-best 468 pixels per inch. A layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is on board, protecting against all the drops and dings the handset encounters in everyday life.

The HTC One battery offers a full 16.0 hours of talk time and 8.50 hours of video playback from a full charge, and anchoring the hardware profile is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system chip. A quad core 1.7 GHz CPU is present, as is a powerful Adreno 320 GPU, 32 GB of built-in storage space and 2.0 GB of RAM. The phone also delivers an advanced CMOS Image Sensor, ISP, and optical lens system. This allows the HTC One camcorder to capture up to 300% more light than other smartphone cameras, and it records video in 1,080P HD resolution.
