HTC Inspire Total Specs and Gingerbread Update

The HTC Inspire AT&T 4G Android smartphone came out in February of 2011 with the Android Froyo 2.2 operating system out-of-the-box. Since then many handsets have received an upgrade to the Gingerbread 2.3 operating system, and just last month the HTC Inspire was the beneficiary of this upgrade as well. With an upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and a promise for free over the air upgrades as Google’s Android operating system continues to grow in the future, the HTC Inspire reaches a level playing field with other Android handsets which were released with this upgraded operating system out-of-the-box.

The operating system upgrade delivers several minor fixes and a couple of major updates. This new firmware update to the Android 2.3 operating system actually enhances the HTC Sense user interface as well. Updated application tray features which were needed have been made, and the new FriendStream features allow quicker and more sensible access to your favorite web 2.0 portals and websites. Now there are Quick Settings added to your notifications window, and an improved power management function allows you to shut down applications you are not currently using so they are not a draw on the battery.

The HTC Inspire 4G handset is considered a first generation 4G phone, and as such, has received a retail price adjustment to $19 with a two-year activation exclusively on the AT&T 4G mobile broadband network. AT&T claims speeds of up to four times their typical 3G platform. The 4.3 inch Super LCD display offers 480 x 800 pixel resolution, is a capacitive touch screen offering multitouch gesture navigation, offers typical proximity and light sensors built into the screen, and is covered by a protective layer of Corning anti-scratch Gorilla Glass.

A single score Snapdragon processor of 1.0 GHz handles the operations side of the HTC Inspire 4G, and is supported by 768 MB of RAM memory. A rear facing 8 megapixel camcorder offers dual LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, other special effects and face detection features. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr and Picasa are preloaded, and HTML web browsing and Adobe Flash media player are fully supported. MicroUSB and microSD slots are built in, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth access are also supported, and video mirroring through DLNA technology is present.
