htcevo4glteThe HTC Evo 4G LTE Android smartphone launched on June 2 of last year on the Sprint network in the United States. It delivered at that time one of the largest displays in the entire smartphone marketplace, and the handset still carries that designation. The built-in kickstand on the back of the HTC Evo LTE 4G smartphone is perfect for hands-free viewing of videos and movies, conference calls and video chats. That handset recently snuck into the top 10 best-sellers smartphone list on Amazon.

Amazon is one of the largest online sellers of smartphones, and publishes a top 100 best-selling smartphones list which is updated several times a day. The HTC Evo LTE 4G smartphone no doubt made it to its current number eight position among all smartphones offered on Amazon on contract due to its large high-resolution screen, simultaneous high-resolution video and image capture, and speedy dual core processor.

But the handset recently received a retail price drop down to $0.01 on contract, and that has certainly helped drive the current sales surge into the top 10 best-selling smartphones ranks. The first-ever Sprint 4G LTE system launched on July 15 of last year, and Sprint recently added 28 more major markets in the United States with 4G LTE coverage. That wireless carrier has said by the end of 2013 the entire United States will be blanketed with their 4G LTE access.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE handset is skinny at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm), and weighs only 4.73 ounces (119 g), making it slim and light for a smartphone with such a powerful hardware package and large display. The 4.7 inch Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen employs more than 16 million different colors when rendering visuals, and resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels. Pixel density is also high, at 312 pixels per inch, and that display is protected against your everyday abuse by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

The Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system meshes with the HTC Sense UI v4.0 Android overlay, and the display includes an auto dimming proximity sensor and auto brightness adjusting light sensor, with both of those features helping to conserve battery life. Talk time on the new 4G LTE network of Sprint runs up to 9.0 hours after a full battery charge, and the phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon system chip, dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Krait CPU and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory.
