A follow-up model to the very popular HTC Droid Incredible, the HTC Droid Incredible 2 was one of the first smartphones to qualify for the unofficial definition of the newly coined Superphone moniker. The fuzzy Superphone definition applies to those handsets which deliver a 4 inch screen, 1.0 GHz processor, 8.0 megapixel camcorder and provide touchscreen navigation. While that applies to basically every Android handset released recently, that was not the case back when the Droid Incredible 2 released on April 28 of 2011. What is definitely super about this handset is its $0.01 retail price at select Verizon authorized retailers, and the Droid Incredible 2 is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless broadband network.

Delivering Android’s 2.2 Froyo operating system out-of-the-box, with a free over the air Gingerbread upgrade, the handset measures 4.75 x 2.52 x 0.48 inches (121 x 64 x 12 mm) and weighs 4.77 ounces (135 g), both average number sets for a 4G smartphone. That 4.0 inch display mentioned above delivers 480 x 800 pixel resolution to the S-LCD screen, and offers capacitive multitouch navigation. A light sensor is built into the display, and provides auto brightness adjustment depending on the amount of ambient light present, and the built-in proximity sensor shuts the device off when not in use.

An average of 6.5 hours of consecutive talk time and 15 days standby is delivered from a single charge of the 1450 mAh battery, and the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon chip set that consists of a 1.0 GHz Scorpion central processor and 205 graphics processing unit. 768 MB of RAM memory rounds out the hardware set. A microSD slot is available for storage expansion up to 32 GB.

The HTC Droid Incredible 2 offers a 1.3 megapixel front facing chat cam that also provides video call support. The 8.0 megapixel camcorder mounted on the rear of the handset provides 720P HD video capture, and comes equipped with a video light, and dual LED flash for low light applications. Autofocus, geo-tagging, special effects and face detection features are also found on that rear snapper. YouTube, MySpace, Flickr, Twitter and Facebook social media applications have been pre-installed, an FM radio is on board, and the built-in music player has the capability of filtering by artist, album or play list. Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and Wi-Fi802.11 b, g, n channels provide wireless connectivity for the HTC Droid Incredible 2.  Buy the HTC Droid Incredible 2 starting at only one penny.
