droiddnaVerizon Wireless took to the web to post details surrounding the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC Droid DNA a few months ago, but up until now, subscribers were not seeing any notifications coming through.  HTC and Verizon Wireless have both confirmed the news about the device this week noting that the Android 4.2.2 and the Sense 5 user interface would be included.  Some of the newer HTC handsets have seen the Android 4.3 update and even a couple of them have been graced with Android 4.4 KitKat update, it is nice to see that the Droid DNA is getting noticed.

Those that have the Droid DNA also know that it could use a couple of bug fixes and overall performance upgrades, so hopefully those are part of the change log.  Besides getting the Android software added to the phone, HTC’s Blinkfeed and HTC Zoe will also be part of the update.  The Blinkfeed has been one of the more popular applications that HTC pre-installs on devices.  HTC noted that there will be a smaller update first to help prepare the device for the larger Android 4.2.2 update shortly after that.

The update is huge, according to the Verizon Wireless support documents, it will be larger than 600MB in size so it is highly recommended that you connect to a Wi-Fi network before starting the download.  Also, it is necessary to make sure you have enough battery life to complete the process as you want the entire download and install process to go uninterrupted.  Coming along with BlinkFeed, users will see a new camera application, dialer, calendar and other bug fixes for the older HTC Droid DNA.  Because users have already reported getting the download notification, you can go to your settings and check manually to see if the download is ready for you.

The Droid DNA was released by HTC back in November of last year and it features a 5-inch Super LCD 3 touch screen display with a 1080p HD resolution.  The phone is powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz, an Adreno 320 processor and 2GB of RAM.  The phone does not have a microSD card slot for memory expansion.  4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi connections and Bluetooth accessory support are all include.  The camera is an 8MP sensor on the back with a smaller, 2.1MP webcam on the front side.
