htcdroiddnaAnnounced on November 13 of last year and released to the tech-crazy US smartphone market eight days later, the HTC Droid DNA 4G Android smartphone was an instant success. The handset automatically became a flagship phone for Verizon, and its quad core processor is a perfect home for Verizon’s large and speedy 4G LTE network in the United States. The Droid DNA is HTC’s answer to popular Android and iOS smartphones like the Galaxy S III and iPhone 5, and delivers arguably a better overall feature package than both those handsets.

With screen size getting larger and larger every day, Apple was forced to finally deliver their first ever 4.0 inch display in the iPhone 5. And the above-mentioned Galaxy S III offers a larger 4.80 inch screen. Pixel density on the Apple iPhone 5 runs 326 pixels per inch, with the Galaxy S III delivering 306 ppi. With a large 5.0 inch 1,080P touchscreen delivering 441 pixels per inch, HTC has succeeded in their desire to outperform two of the best-selling smartphones on the planet in resolution and screen size.

The HTC Droid DNA 4G runs the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which meshes with the HTC Sense UI, accepting capacitive, multitouch gestures for navigation. HTC has included the exclusive Beats Audio sound system, which delivers both dedicated speaker amps as well as a 2.5 volt headset amplifier. Slim and light, the phone measures 0.38 (9.73 mm) inches in thickness and weighs only 4.87 ounces (138 g). This is exceptionally slimmer and lighter than other handsets with a quad core processor and 5.0 inch display.

The handset was built with a tough polycarbonate unibody, and the screen is a single, seamless laminated design that helps eliminate reflection. Powered by a Snapdragon 1.5 GHz quad core processor, the HTC Droid DNA 4G will also be a hit with mobile gamers. The HD fantasy realm game Reign of Amira has been preloaded, and does a great job of displaying the capabilities of that large, high resolution display, speedy quad core processor and Adreno 320 graphics processor.

The 5.0 inch screen is an ImageChip ISP S-LCD 3 model, delivering 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution and 16 million colors. Talk time on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system runs approximately 12.6 hours, and a full battery charge lasts for approximately 14.6 days in standby mode. A full 2.0 GB of RAM memory has been pre-installed, as has 16 GB of built-in data storage space. The 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the handset provides extensive customization and personalization features, recording video in 1,080P HD resolution.
