nexustvWith all of the major mobile companies noticing that streaming content is the wave of the future, there are more TV boxes popping up that allow users to get that content right to their HDTV’s with little hassle.  Things like high priced cable and satellite companies are slowly starting to lose subscribers and that has a lot to do with consumers able to get the content they want right on their mobile device.  The world of recording shows to watch them later has started to die along with it because most popular television shows can be watched online the very next day.

Consumers are looking for cheaper options to get the TV they want to watch and that is where the next product from Google is going to step in.  The Google Nexus TV is expected to launch early next year and because the Nexus Q failed to really take off, the company is going to be pressured to release something that is a success.  According to at least one online source, Google is working on a TV box and that is going to compete directly with the Xbox, Playstation, Roku, AppleTV, Chromecast and others that already provide similar services.

The unnamed source close to Google has either overheard about the device or has seen a prototype in question, so for now this is strictly just rumor.  Even though it is just a rumor, it makes perfect sense that Google would want to get back into the TV game after the Nexus Q.  The Google Nexus TV is going to be a little different than what we have seen on the market these days.  According to reports, the box will not be an actual TV, nor will it broadcast regular TV content like we have seen from others, however it will bring web-rich media and content to your living room.

The content is going to come from places like Google Movies & TV, Google Music, YouTube and just about everything else that you can find via Google Search.  The box will be running Android 4.4 KitKat software, so essentially it could be like having your mobile device content right on your television.  A top of the line web browser for your HDTV, which is something that has yet to be brought to the market effectively, would be a nice addition to the electronics you already own.
