googlenexusThis month we can all expect to see the brand new Nexus smartphone and tablet, but according to one online source, rumors are suggesting that more devices are coming and some are not smartphones or tablets.  According to the source, Google is getting ready to showcase a few new products right next to the Nexus 5 and Nexus 10, which are set to be announced later this week.  Of those products, we could see a device that goes into the home automation category, called the Nexus Switch.  Code names for the upcoming devices include “Nexus Leep” and “Nexus Shining”.

The Nexus Shining is the product that users could see using inside their home for automation of just about anything that you would like to plug into an outlet.  There are already a few products out on the market that can be paired up with ones smartphone to turn lights on or off and control any appliance that is plugged into the outlet.  Because these are just rumored devices, the chance that we see them this year is pretty slim, but Google could show them off to see what sort of market response they get.

Google is also going to announce the new Nexus 10 tablet, code named “Gem” and the Nexus 5 smartphone being made by LG, but another report suggests that the company will also be looking into getting a smartwatch to the market soon.  Google just purchased WIMM Labs, which is a wearable computing platform, presumably to build on the Nexus brand of smartphones and tablets.  The new Nexus 5 and the Nexus 10 are reportedly going to be huge steps of upgrades from the previous models that came to the market last year.

Google has also been talking about how Android could also appear inside the home sooner than later, so the Nexus Switch is nothing surprising when you first read about it.  All of the things that could be setup to be controlled via your smartphone is just incredible.  According to the rumors, Nexus Switch can bring home automation to your device very easily.  Examples include turning on the heat or A/C as you pull onto your street, or even flip on the TV as you pull into the driveway.  The device could also be used to turn on lights while you are on vacation to keep potential robbers at bay.
