Most smartphones are generally used in today’s society for storing tons of applications and data files, as well as actually placing and receiving phone calls. 4G smartphones are capable of fast uploads and downloads, and also accessing 4G LTE networks for speedy connections and clear calls. And while a smartphone’s central purpose is to provide telephone access to its user, what began as a mobile phone has quickly morphed into a very capable pocket computer. The powerful performance delivered by the Motorola Droid Razr that was designed as the skinniest smartphone of all time made it a very successful seller for both Motorola and Verizon. However, skinny meant less-than-perfect battery life, so the Droid Razr MAXX was developed, and is currently available starting at $99.

The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G takes the same DuPont Kevlar and aluminum coated, splash-proof chassis from the skinny Droid Razr, and adds an oversized, extended life battery. 85% larger in size and storage space than the original Droid Razr cell, the 3,300 mA Droid Razr MAXX battery provides the best talk time and video playback from a single charge of any 4G smartphone. Offering 15.0 hours of video playback or 21.5 hours of talk time from a single battery charge, nearly 3 times the industry average, the Droid Razr MAXX leads the 4G field. That handset also leads all smartphones in out-of-the-box, user accessible data storage with 32 GB. That is comprised of 16 GB built into the handset and a removable 16 GB microSD card that ships with the phone.

The Droid Razr MAXX 4G can also transform into a an entry-level 10.1 inch laptop with full keyboard and track pad when ported into the optional Motorola Lapdock 100 accessory, and operate as a desktop PC or High Definition multimedia center when connected to the optional Motorola HD Station. Powering the handset is a 1.2 GHz dual core Cortex A9 central processor which is part of a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 suite of microchips, along with a graphics dedicated PowerVR SGX540 GPU. That handset also contains 1.0 GB of RAM system memory.

The 4.30 inch Super AMOLED display runs 540 x 960 pixel resolution, delivered at an above average 256 pixels per inch. A protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass offers chip and scratch resistance, and the 8.0 megapixel camcorder integrated into the back of the handset offers 1,080P HD resolution. A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam is also present, and allows for portrait snapshots and video call support.  Buy the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx starting at $99.
