If you happen to have a Nokia Lumia 900 for your mobile weapon of choice, chances are crashes and freezes on the handset are alien concepts to you because rarely do these happen on the handset. Although there are cases that the handset indeed freezes or crashes, those instances are very rare because the Nokia Lumia 900 was designed in such a way that 3rd party applications installed on the handset do not have access to the core of the handset’s operating system. Because of this lack of access, it is very difficult to cause the system to become very unstable enough for it to crash.

Looking back, the Nokia Lumia 900 is the current flagship device of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer. For the uninitiated, Nokia back in the day was one of the leading smartphone manufacturers until the likes of Apple, HTC, Samsung and the like started taking over the smartphone market and relegated Nokia to the back seat of things. To turn things around, Nokia entered into a strategic alliance with software giant Microsoft and began manufacturing handsets for the Windows Phone ecosystem. With this shift in focus, the company became relevant again in the smartphone competition.

As for the Nokia Lumia 900, this is the flagship device of Nokia for the Windows Phone platform as mentioned earlier and is said to be the handset of choice if you want the best Windows Phone experience for that matter. However, despite all the power that it packs under the hood and the fact that it is not that prone to freezes and crashes, there are times that this happens. And when this happens, you should be prepared with a few aces up your sleeves to ensure that you get to return your Nokia Lumia 900 to normal operation.

With this, we are outlining the steps on how to do a soft reset on your Nokia Lumia 900 should it crash or freeze. But first, why do we need this? Simple. Because of the unibody design of the handset, there is no way to physically access its power pack and pull it out just like most of us do whenever our handsets get stuck. If this happens on your handset, all you need to do is simply press and hold the camera shutter, power button and volume keys of the handset for about 3 – 5 seconds and the handset should do a soft reset. Others who have done this attested to the fact that the Nokia Lumia 900 will vibrate for 3 times before it does the soft reset but we haven’t experienced this on our handset when we did it.

Well, that is the complicated way because you need at least a couple of fingers to press and hold all the buttons mentioned above. There are a couple of users of the handset who have claimed that pressing and holding the power button of the Nokia Lumia 900 for about 10 – 15 seconds will also cause it to do a soft reset but we haven’t tried that out yet. Well, at the end of the day, the bottom line will always be whatever works for you, right?  Buy the Nokia Lumia 900 starting at just one penny!
