HTC unveiled its all new Butterfly S at an event in Taiwan. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 1.9 GHz quad core processor and 2 GB of RAM (speculated to be faster than the HTC One), the 5 inch handset also sports a 1080p Full HD screen. It also derives its features from several noteworthy innovations that were seen in the HTC One. The inclusion of the UltraPixel Camera, HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and a horde of other features is evidence of the same. Users can also expect HTC’s Sense 5 UI powered by Android Jelly Bean.

Despite an array of features to boast of, the stand out feature for this new handset would undoubtedly be its battery. The HTC Butterfly S comes with a battery rated at 3200 mAh. This translates into 25 hours of talk time on WCDMA and 29 hours on its GSM counterpart. The manufacturer, in an emailed statement, revealed that users can now enjoy the niceties of the World Wide Web for a longer period of time. The Taiwanese company announced its dedication to catering to customer needs currently centred on social networking and sharing media. The HTC Butterfly S is expected to raise the bar even further as the company attempts to regain the market value it lost to Samsung and Apple.

Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC, announced that the Butterfly S would change the way people view smartphones. The added advantages of HTC’s customized services like Zoe, Blinkfeed and BoomSound will differentiate the device among a horde of other high end Android devices, according to the company. HTC Blinkfeed delivers content from more than 2000 sources of media, including popular news and media channels, while BoomSound suggests promising signs for a revolution in sound quality, with the handset’s premium front facing speakers and Beats Audio integration. The Butterfly S is HTC’s first major push into the phablet market, which is dominated currently by Samsung’s Galaxy Note series.

The integration of HTC’s Zoe with the UltraPixel camera is all set to redefine imaging in smartphones, according to Peter Chou. UltraPixel integration promises better pictures in low lighting conditions as the camera is capable of capturing 300% more light. High definition moving images can be created by integrating several photos together, a function that the HTC Zoe is capable of executing. The HTC Butterfly S is expected to release in select Asian markets only as of now, and whether the phone will be available in US is yet to be announced.
