bbz10bBack when the Canadian smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry was still named RIM, they had the excellent and well-earned reputation of delivering software updates and bug fixes as soon as they were available. Most smartphone manufacturers wait until they have a substantial update which covers many different bug fixes, operating system updates and other data before they send them over the air. Recently BlackBerry proved that some things never change, and in this case that is a very good thing.

The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

BlackBerry has sent an update to version 10.0.10.648 for their operating system on the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone. Earlier in the week the smartphone manufacturer announced that there was a potential security problem with the handset, and this over the air operating system update effectively removes that issue. The way to download the update is simple. Simply check your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone notifications, and if you see a software update #10.0.10.648 listed, make sure your handset has a full battery charge and download it. Follow the on-screen prompts and the update will be installed.

The good news is, if you do not show an update, that means your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone has already received the upgrade. Arriving in March of this year in the smartphone-hungry United States, the BlackBerry Z10 has been more popular than initial analyst expectations. BlackBerry calls the handset “the fastest, most advanced BlackBerry smartphone yet,” and it is hard to argue the point. The device is also slim and light, weighing just 4.85 ounces (138 g), and measuring a wafer-thin 0.35 inches (9.0 mm) in thickness.

The BlackBerry Z10 also delivers a 4.20 inch display, spreading a full 16 million colors across that screen at the rate of 356 color pixels per inch. This leads to an HD+ 768 by 1,280 pixel resolution, and the phone supports standard capacitive, multitouch gestures. The BlackBerry Z10 comes equipped with a 1,800 mA battery, which provides up to 10.0 hours of talk time from a full charge. Qualcomm supplies the system chip, and it is built around a dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 plus processor. A full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, and there is 16 GB of onboard storage available.

The all-important microSD slot is also present for extra storage, and the BlackBerry Z10 4G smartphone offers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, as well as a 2.0 megapixel front facing chat cam. The front camera can be used for Skype and video calls, with the rear camcorder delivering autofocus, touch to focus and digital image stabilization features. That rear snapper also records high definition video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080P HD resolution).

The BlackBerry Z10 – 4G LTE can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
