htcone-silverIf you are on the AT&T network and have the HTC One smartphone you will be getting an update soon for you to download and install the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software.  Because HTC missed the end of September promise to get the update to the smartphone the company has seemingly been working overtime to get that software to users as fast as possible.  Last week we learned that the CEO mentioned the update will hit the mobile carriers in the United States this year and that is coming true now.

The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $119.

AT&T will be sending out the update this week in phases with all of the HTC One owners updated within the next week or more.  More than one user on the AT&T network has already reported that they were able to download the software to their HTC One device in the last few days.  The software update page that is on the AT&T website should be updated to reflect that the update is ready to go and you can start the download if you check for updates manually from your device.  HTC has not been a fast company when it comes to getting updates to users, so maybe this is a sign of changes to come.

HTC has confirmed that the update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be ready for AT&T now with Sprint coming right after that, with Verizon Wireless users getting update from Android 4.2 by the end of October.  Verizon Wireless is one of the slowest mobile carriers to get updates to users, but this time around they seem to have picked things up a little bit.  Information about the update landing on AT&T network is coming from the XDA Developers forum where users are posting screenshots and other information.

According to users, the update is about 565MB in size, so it will take a little bit to download and install on your device, so make sure that you are tied to your Wi-Fi network so that you are not eating through your data allotment.  The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update also comes with Sense 5.0 user interface for the device.  Rumors suggest that Android 4.4 KitKat will be arriving for the device, but there is no way to know the date that might arrive.  To check for updates go to Settings > About Phone > Check for updates.

The HTC One 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $119.
