nexus7lteFinally, after waiting almost one month, it looks like consumers on the AT&T network will be able to get their hands on the new Nexus 7 LTE model.  AT&T announced recently that it has the device ready to ship and that the Android powered tablet will be shipped unlocked with an AT&T SIM card.  The LTE model of the Nexus 7 was announced recently on the T-Mobile network with the idea that AT&T would be the next in line to offer the device for its large 4G LTE network.

This week, AT&T starts selling the LTE model of the Nexus 7 for $349 for the 32GB model and that is not all, AT&T has also announced that it will give you $100 off the device if you agree to sign a new two-year contract before the end of the year.  That discount is not that big of a deal as it stands, but if you are looking to save right away and have to sign a contract anyways, you might as well do it with AT&T and save the $100 right away.  Since the tablet is unlocked, it can be used on various networks, but AT&T is trying to keep you on its network by offering the discount.

If you would like to take advantage of the deal that AT&T is offering, you will have to call a retail location in order to get it activated.  The data plans that you will have as options on the AT&T network are going to cost you, so the $100 might not seem like much, but at least the mobile carrier is offering you something of an incentive to stick around with them.  Those of you buying the T-Mobile version of the tablet are going to be offered at least one free month of the LTE, but the network is limited right now and if you are not in the coverage area, that does not seem like much of a deal.

The Nexus 7 II came along this summer and it replaced the original Nexus 7 tablet and features a black frame, but improved hardware on the inside.  The new display has a 1920×1080 resolution giving in the highest resolution of any other 7-inch model on the market right now.  The processor also get a bump and is now the Snapdragon S4, which is a quad-core model clocked at 1.5GHz.  A 5MP camera on the back and Android 4.3 are also included with the new Nexus 7.
