In the scheme of things in the smartphone competition, newer and more capable devices are bound to enter the market on a regular basis. This leaves the smartphone-buying population winners in the deal because not only they have the option of getting their hands on the latest and greatest handsets from the various OEMs but those cash-strapped among our smartphone-crazed brethren can also go for one of the still capable devices that will get “outed” as soon as the new breed of smartphones come in.

This seems to be the case for the HTC One X+. Back in the day, the handset is one of the most powerful handsets to be offered by AT&T in US shores. After all, this handset was the flagship device of HTC from last year and was the successor of the HTC One X, the first handset in the world to pack a quad-core processor under the hood.

With the imminent arrival of the HTC One, the upcoming flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, it is only expected that the price point of the HTC One X+ over at AT&T will also drop. After all, the heydays of the handset is about to end to give way to the new smartphone on the block. This is not to say though that the HTC One X+ has already outlived its usefulness. In fact, the handset is still pretty capable with the impressive components it packs under the hood.

But the best part right now is the price drop the HTC One X+ has been given by AT&T authorized online retailers. With this in play, those interested in getting their hands on the still capable HTC One X+ can now do so at a more affordable price point because select online retailers have already lowered the price of the handset to a sub-$80 price point. Not only that, the wireless provider has also given the green light to its authorized online resellers to slash the price point of the HTC One X+ making it more affordable than ever. Those who will be taking advantage of this deal will be required to sign a new two-year service agreement with Ma Bell as customary.

When talking about the HTC One X+, the handset reached official status when it was unveiled back in October of last year. It hit the shelves of AT&T in US shores in November and since then has become one of the more popular offerings of the carrier. The HTC One X+ has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 chipset under the hood and with this chipset comes a quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 beast of a processor and 1GB of RAM making sure that the performance of the handset is always snappy and buttery smooth. The HTC One X+ has 32GB of onboard storage while its display is a 4.7-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Its camera department is just as impressive with an 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.6MP snapper in its front bezel.
