Apple may have scored a monumental victory against Samsung in their high-profile patent trial but it looks like the win is just a precursor to a protracted patent war between the two industry giants. As it stands, a second patent trial between Apple and Samsung has already been set and is scheduled in March 2014 but as early as now, both companies are continuing to ask the court to add devices in to their respective patent infringement claims.

The ATT Samsung Galaxy Note II is available at a reduced Cyber Monday Deal Week price at select authorized online retailers now starting at $289.99.

Initially, Samsung asked the court to add the iPhone 5 which was answered by Apple who requested that the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 be added. Of course, Samsung shot back with a request to add the fifth-gen iPod Touch, iPad Mini and fourth-gen iPad. The latest in the future patent trial is the request put in by Apple to have the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wi-Fi along with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-running Samsung Galaxy S III added as well.

According to the Cupertino-based company, the Samsung Galaxy Note II along with the other devices it wants added based on its latest request were released after the launch of the fifth-gen iPod Touch so if the judge handling the case allows the iPod Touch to be added in the suit, then by all means the latest Samsung devices should also be thrown into the mix. The court however stated that the Android operating system should not be part of the patent suit without an accompanying device attached to it.

The only thing of note here is that the trial is set to start approximately 16 months from now and by the time Opening Statements, the smartphone landscape could already be very different from what it is today. By that time, Samsung could have already released the Samsung Galaxy S V while Apple could have already launched the iPhone 6S (if we stick to their usual naming conventions) and the devices in contention today will no longer be as “hot” by the time the gavel drops in March 2014.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, this is the second generation phablet released by the Korean electronics giant and was unveiled back during the latter parts of August. The phablet already runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and its operation is powered by the handset’s Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. This SoC brings into play a quad-core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a staggering 2GB of RAM to generate the computing muscle needed by the handset for its flawless performance. The Samsung Galaxy Note II is available in a 16GB, 32GB and 64GB version in terms of storage space with the option to have its internal memory expanded using it microSD card slot. Its display remains its standout feature with its 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration features a rear 8MP shooter and a 1.9MP snapper.

You can purchase the ATT Samsung Galaxy Note II at a reduced price tag now starting at $289.99.
